Klabb Naħla Literacy Programme

Klabb Naħla is a literacy programme in the primary years, additional to the day school support for children manifesting literacy difficulties. Participating learners attend sessions delivered by educators from their own school, where they have the opportunity to consolidate their literacy skills in Maltese or English, depending on their needs. Klabb Naħla focuses on key areas of speaking, reading, and writing and the sub-skills required to grasp these main skills. The National Literacy Agency supports the school to plan and run this programme.

The school identifies the area of needs (Maltese or English) and the cohort group/s (Year 2 to Year 6). Then, children who are showing signs of struggling with reading and writing are identified and parents or guardians are offered the opportunity for their children to participate in Klabb Naħla. Preference is given to learners with literacy difficulties.

Klabb Naħla is run through face-to face sessions organised at least twice (and preferably three times) a week to groups which do not exceed a maximum of 6 learners. Delivery time is either during Breakfast Club or directly after school.
